British airport dismisses SRK's body scanner image claims

Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan's claims that he signed print outs of ''nude'' security scans of his body at Heathrow have been dismissed by the airport owner, BAA.

According to London's Telegraph, the airport has labelled Shah Rukh's claims "completely factually incorrect", reports The Age.

BAA said the claims "simply could not be true", insisting the scanners had no facility for printing images or storing them.

While on Jonathan Ross's BBC talk show, the Indian actor had expressed his concerns over full-body scanners, saying they breach a person's privacy.

"I came out [of the scanner] and then I saw these girls and they had these printouts," Khan said.

He added: "So I looked at them, I thought maybe it's a form you're supposed to [sign] ... and you could see everything inside.

"And then I've autographed them for them."

The scanners are currently in use at Heathrow and Manchester airports.

I will make reality shows as well as fiction shows and the kind which everyone can watch together. I am very excited about one of the shows which will be based on Lord Jesus. I would have spoken about my shows but the problem is that I am bound by agreements due to which, I have to keep my mouth shut.”

The studio will be christened RS and Rakhi says it will have state-of-the-art equipment. “It will have everything from a dubbing studio to a special effects division. I am getting machines and technology that is used abroad. Whenever I have done something, I have tried to make it the best in the industry.” Well, after Shilpa, Bipasha, Preiti, it seems like Rakhi is also making herself a business tycoon.

MY NAME IS KHAN makes two strong statements...

The first: B.C. and A.D. are designations used to label years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. There's a third designation now - 9/11. Post September 11, the world stands divided. Terrorist outfits continue to strike in the name of religion and the common man, not even remotely associated with these groups, is bearing the brunt. The world is not a safe place anymore.

Rating : 4 and Half Star

The second statement: There're two sets of people in this world - the good and the bad. No matter how strong the evil forces are, good always triumphs.

MY NAME IS KHAN mirrors the era we live in. Not a day goes by when you haven't heard/read/watched news of terror attacks and innocents being killed. We live in turbulent times. Also, the movie states - and states very strongly, without mincing words - Not all Muslims are terrorists.

Karan Johar's cinema got more real from KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA onwards. In MY NAME IS KHAN, the storyteller attempts to make a social statement and succeeds completely. At the same time, it takes no sides. If the protagonist says 'My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist', it also exposes those who misadvise the youth with inflammatory and rabble-rousing speeches.

Karan's take on the issue deserves the highest praise, since a subject like this is difficult to attempt. Final word? MY NAME IS KHAN is Karan, SRK and Kajol's best outing to date. Do I need to add anything more?

Rizvan Khan [Shah Rukh Khan moves to San Francisco and lives with his brother [Jimmy Shergill] and sister-in-law [Sonya Jehan]. Rizvan, who has Asperger's syndrome, falls in love with Mandira [Kajol]. Despite protests from his brother, they get married and start a small business together. They are happy until September 11, when attitudes towards Muslims undergo a sea-change.

When tragedy strikes, Mandira is devastated and they split. Rizvan is confused and upset that the love of his life has left him. To win her back, he embarks on a touching and inspiring journey across America.

Let me alert you. The story unfolds feverishly from the very start itself. So if you miss a scene or two, chances are you would've missed some vital links in the story. The fact is, there's too much happening in the first half. Although the narrative tends to get leisurely-paced at times, the wheels continue to move from one episode to another.

A number of sequences are endearing. For instance, the romance between SRK and Kajol is subtle, yet charming. But it's SRK's relationship with Kajol and their kid that's one of the best parts of the movie. Your heart bleeds when an accident occurs and their lives are torn apart. Kajol's outburst - first, when her son meets with a catastrophe and second, when she confronts SRK - are truly shattering.

MY NAME IS KHAN's strength lies in the fact that you root for Khan all through. At the same time, you are weighed down when he's in a vulnerable situation, especially when he's labelled a terrorist and thrown behind bars. You don't realize it, but the fact is that you, as a spectator, have already got entwined in Rizvan and Mandira's lives.

There's a slight hitch in the second hour, when SRK returns to Georgia to save a hurricane-ravaged hamlet. Also, the media exercise tends to add to the length of the film. Nonetheless, it's a minor hiccup that doesn't rob the film of its punch.

There's just one word to illustrate Karan's direction - exemplary. One of the finest storytellers of our generation, he deserves brownie points for deviating from 'Karan Johar brand of cinema' and attempting a film that knocks on your heart and stimulates your mind. With MY NAME IS KHAN, Karan takes rapid strides as a storyteller.

Shibani Bathija's screenplay is truly arresting. Shibani and Niranjan Iyengar's dialogues are noteworthy and many a times, applaud-worthy. Ravi K. Chandran's cinematography is awe-inspiring. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music gels well with the nature of the film.

When a film stars two of the finest talents of the country, you expect nothing but the best. SRK, well, how does one describe his performance? To state that this is his best work so far would be cutting short the praise he truly deserves. In fact, no amount of praise can do sufficient justice to his portrayal of Rizvan Khan, who has Asperger's syndrome. His latest work is several notches above anything he has done before. The only compliment that I can think of is, SRK has a new screen-name now. Raj is passe, Rizvan it is.

Kajol is pure dynamite and casting her for this character was the most appropriate decision. No other actress could've matched SRK in histrionics the way Kajol has. In fact, SRK and Kajol compliment each other wonderfully well and this film only proves it yet again. It's a powerhouse performance from this supremely talented actress.

The film boasts of a number of capable actors, but the ones who leave a rock-solid impact are - in this order - Zarina Wahab, Sonya Jehan, Jimmy Shergill, Arjun Mathur, Parvin Dabas and Arif Zakaria. Sugandha Garg is confident. Navneet Nishan supports well. Vinay Pathak leaves a mark in a brief role. Tanay Chheda [young SRK] and Yuvaan Makaar [SRK and Kajol's son Sameer] are excellent. The American actors, especially the kid who plays Sameer's friend, deserves mention.

On the whole, MY NAME IS KHAN is a fascinating love story, has an angle of religion and a world-shaking incident as a backdrop. It not only entertains, but also mesmerises, enthrals and captivates the viewer in those 2.40 hours. At the same time, a film like MY NAME IS KHAN is sure to have a far-reaching influence due to its noble theme. I strongly advocate, don't miss this one!

Shah Rukh's bungalow Mannat, most secure places in Mumbai, Says Shiv Sena

The Shiv Sena on Wednesday made fresh vitriolic remarks against actor Shah Rukh Khan, comparing his security to that of 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab.

Sena mouthpiece Saamna said that the two most secure places in Mumbai were Arthur Road Jail where Kasab was lodged and Shah Rukh's bungalow Mannat in Bandra.

The Sena's comments came a day after the Mumbai Police tightened the security of Shah Rukh and others associated with the film My Name Is Khan. This was done after the film's director Karan Johar met Mumbai Police chief D. Sivanandan.

The Saamna article also boasted about the protests organised by the Sena against the film.

Now Bajrang Dal bans My Name Is Khan

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's film My Name is Khan is akin to controversy. First, it was the Shiv Sena, who threatened to ban the film, then joined the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and now Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal.

The latest news is that Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal has threatened to disrupt the screening of My Name is Khan in the state if Shahrukh fails to offer apology for supporting the inclusion of the Pakistani cricketers in the IPL.

Subash Chouhan, national co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, said that they would not allow the screening of My Name is Khan in the state unless Shahrukh apologise for his comments. He added that the actor acted like an agent to Pakistan by raising his voice for the cause of its cricketers.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena activists attacked some theatres in Mumbai yesterday for opening advance booking in spite of the promise by its chief Bal Thackeray that it would allow the screening of the film.
The incident took place right on the face of the Mumbai police, who had earlier promised full protection to the theatres screening the film.

My Name is Khan, which brings the incredible screen pair Shahrukh and Kajol together after eight long years, is scheduled for release this Friday (February 12). It is produced by Karan Johar.

The most-awaited film of the year, Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Kites’, will be releasing its two-and-a-half-minute promo along with the prints of ‘My Name Is Khan’ on February 12.

The team, which should be anticipating the audience’s reaction to the promo that shows Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori’s love story in the film and even has a kissing scene, is instead worried over something else.
The promo leaked somehow and was put up on popular video sharing website, Youtube.

The video was made and sent to 20th Century Fox’s office in the US so that it could be released along with ‘My Name Is Khan’. But everyone was in for a shock when the promos were posted online.
They are now in the process of removing the videos as they don’t want the freshness to die.

Bipasha Basu Ashok Mittal controversy

Bipasha Basu, the husky, dusky bong beauty of bollywood who had gone to Delhi to launch her fitness DVD at hotel Ramda Plaza, has been accused of throwing tantrums and demanding Rs 30 lakhs to attend a party and cut the cake.

In fact, Bipasha Basu was scheduled to attend the launch of her fitness DVD at the hotel which was being organized by Shemaroo, her partners in the DVD. However, soon the hotel owners Ashok and Neeru Mittal demanded that the sultry beauty would have to attend the cake cutting ceremony at the ongoing birthday party of the owner.

But Bipasha and other artistes from bollywood charge a fee for attending such functions and so she refused and locked herself in her room. On Bipasha Basu’s refusal to attend the party, the Mittals became furious and asked their hotel security to surround the Bipasha’s room. However, Bipasha Basu refused to relent and came out of room only in the morning to catch her flight to Mumbai.

Though Mittals have accused the gutsy beauty of demanding exorbitant sum of Rs 30 lakh to attend the birthday party, but no other independent source confirmed this. However, she might have demanded the money (though not that much) to attend the function as it has been norm in bollywood, and she was not doing anything special.

However, Mittals view the whole thing differently. They accused the dusky beauty of breaching the contract by not attending the party. They insist that it was part of the contract that she would attend the party hosted by Ashok Mittal on his birthday.

The grapevine has it that a brief appearance (of about twenty minutes) was part of the contract but there was no mention of cake cutting on the occasion. Sources close to Bipasha Basu say that when Bipasha saw the cake cutting, she just went out of party and all the hell broke loose.

Talking about the film, which the two are likely to star in together, a source reveals, “One of Shahid’s close friend is trying to work on the project. Deepika and Shahid are vaguely aware of the project and are definitely keen on working together since both of them are in-demand.”

“Deepika and Shahid have met each other several times in the past but they really started bonding after a recent award function. Both the actors also have common professional interests. Also, let’s not forget that they are single,” adds the source.
